DIY JEWELRY HEADBAND
One of our favorite trends this season is hair jewelry.
We have seen many stars rocking this feminine look on the red carpet this year.
Recycling scrap chain or using a broken necklace is a fun and exciting way to make your favorite hairstyle sparkle!
Here is a simple way to recreate this elegant look.

What you’ll need:
- Necklace or chain about 14-17” long.
(To make sure you have the right size, lay your necklace over the top of your head and
it should hit just below/behind your ears at the base of your neck.)
- Elastic headband
- Needle/ thread/ scissors
- Lighter

Directions:

1. Cut the piece of elastic or band from 6-8” depending on how long your necklace or chain is. You want it to be tight enough to stay on but not too tight that it slips off your head. Hold it around your head to measure it if it helps.  2. Singe the ends of the band to prevent fraying. 3. Flip the necklace and the elastic upside down. Then hand stitch about 1/2” of the elastic securely to each end of your necklace. Use about 10 stitches on each side, going under and through the necklace links and a few over and around the top.

DIY BANGLES
Who doesn’t love bright sparkly arm candy? This neon Bangle DIY is simple and fun!


What you’ll need:
- Bangles (get them in stacks at places like Forever 21 or Target)
- Embroidery floss (Michael’s has a small selection of neon floss)
- Rhinestone chain
- Hot glue
- Scissors for trimming

Directions:

1. Begin by affixing the rhinestone chain to your bangle with a bit of hot glue and continue all the way around the bangle. You don’t need to glue down the entire rhinestone chain, just intermittent pieces. Less glue mess to contend with that way. When you’ve completed the bangle with your rhinestones, just trim off the rest of the chain, which can usually be cut off with a pair of regular scissors.  2. Begin wrapping your embroidery floss around the spaces between the rhinestones. Wrap 3-4 times around each space, depending on the size of the rhinestone. Continue all the way around.  3. Finish off with a spot of hot glue to hold the floss in place and then trim the edges.

At the Botkier office we asked our sales director Dayna what she carries in her Blair satchel in gold.

1. Apple: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

2. Yogi Throat Comfort Tea: “Being in sales requires a lot of talking! Having soothing tea helps my throat.”

3. A card from my dog: “A card my boyfriend wrote to me from my dog. It makes me happy every time I see it.”

4. Keys: “Office keys incase I stay late at work. Apartment keys to get home, of course!”

5. Brush/Mac powder/Nars lipstick/Nars eyeliner: “I am always in a rush! I carry my makeup around with me if I don’t have time to do it at home.”

6. Floss: “Since I don’t carry a toothbrush, floss is the next best thing after lunch!”

7. Kiehl’s hand cream: “Who doesn’t love soft hands?”

8. Botkier business cards: “You never know if you are going to run into a potential customer.”

9. 5 Rain gum: “I love having minty fresh gum”

10. Matcha Green Tea: “I love this tea, it’s full of anti-aging antioxidants.”

Botkier Street Style: Which Botkier are you? #VALENTINA

Botkier loves street style! There are so many fashionable ladies strutting their style on the streets of New York City. This week we decided to change things up and take our #VALENTINA shoulder in berry out for a stroll through SoHo to see how these #botkierbabes would wear her!

What’s in your Botkier bag?

Almost every busy girl carries her daily essentials in her favorite bag. These essentials are what you depend on to get you through the day and night! At the Botkier office, we asked Sophie what she carries in her favorite Valentina shoulder in teal.

1. Canon Rebel camera: “I’m a photographer so I can’t imagine going anywhere without my camera. I mostly shoot street photography but sometimes when I catch someone in a great outfit, I’ll snap that too.”

2. Ray Ban Sunglasses: “I can’t go anywhere without my favorite pair of sunglasses, even if it’s a cloudy day.”

3. Orbit spearmint gum: “My friends make fun of me but I’ll chew a whole pack of gum a day.”

4. Kodak Film: “I usually shoot with my digital camera but there are some occasions where I want to capture moments in film. Even though you’re not getting the instant gratification of seeing your image right away, it’s a treat to see your image after some time has passed.”

5. iPhone: “My iPhone keeps me connected to my world when I’m on the go. I definitely use instagram the most. I love being able to see what others see throughout their day, it’s a very creative way to stay connected!”

6. Wallet: “I bought this wallet at Anthropologie a while back. It’s the perfect size for me and I love the design.”

7. Book: “I’m currently reading Coco Chanel, The Legend and the Life. She has always been one of my idols and the story of her life is fascinating.”

8. Perfume: “I have been wearing the same perfume for over 10 years, Chance by Chanel.”

9. Lipstick: “My makeup must-have is always lipstick. Even if I’m not wearing any other makeup, a little lipstick goes a long way. My current favorites are Rosy Nude and Candy Apple by Revlon.”

10. Shimmer: “I usually wear Moon Beam by Benefit on my cheekbones before I go out at night. I love it because it gives your face a subtle glow and almost acts as blush.”

4. Every girl needs a little pampering. Monica enjoyed a matching mani+pedi and chose Essie color “Nice is Nice”.

5. Monica snagged this classic Louis Vuitton Dress and Louboutin wedges at @AlexWhiteEdits Amagansett yard sale. There’s nothing like shopping for a good cause!
