Do it Yourself aka DIY is a great activity with friends for a summer’s weekend. Just sip a glass of wine and do it DIY!

DIY 1: Friendship Bracelet Try the Braided Hex Nut Bracelet DIY by Honestly..WTF

You’ll need:

3 strands of cotton butcher’s twine cut into one yard pieces
18 small brass hex nuts
A bit of dexterity!

Gather the 3 strands of twine and tie a knot at the top, leaving about 2 inches of slack. Start braiding. At about an inch of the way down, you’ll begin braiding in the nuts. Before you braid the far left strand over the middle strand, thread on a nut, push it against the base of the braid and crossover. Depending on the thickness of the twine, you can wrap tape around the bottom tips to prevent the twine from fraying. Keep your thumb at the base of the braid, holding the nut in its place. Before you braid the far right strand over the middle, thread on another nut, push it against the base of the braid and crossover. Again, hold your thumb tightly against the base of the braid, keeping the nuts in place. Thread another nut onto the far left piece and crossover. Repeat the steps, by threading the rest of the nuts to the outer pieces of twine before they are crossed over. Thread, cross, thread, cross. Finish the bracelet with another inch of braided twine and a knot. The bracelet should wrap around your wrist at least two or three times. Trim it to your liking.

DIY 2: Chain & Rhinestone Bracelet

If you want to add to your first friendship bracelet, here is a perfect match created by I Spy DIY

You’ll need:

Gold and silver chain from M&J Trimming
Rhinestone
Black Suede rope
Pliers
Bracelet closure

Tie together the two pieces of chain (the two chains should be the same size links so they match up when weaving in the rope) with a double knot. Start by weaving together the first link of the chains. Place the rhinestones in between the two chains and begin weaving all three. Continue weaving down the chains, pulling the rope tightly between each link. Using your pliers, remove any extra links so all three chains line up. Double knot at the end. Tie the closures on each end. Trim excess rope.

DIY 3: Studded Sneakers
Give personality to something simple! DIY by Honesty…WTF

You’ll need:

A pair of sneakers
150–200 brass cone spikes
E6000 adhesive
A disposable container or popsicle stick
Toothpicks

Start by squeezing a small amount of E6000 into a disposable container or onto a wooden popsicle stick. Dispensing a small amount at a time prevents the glue from drying too quickly. Using the tip of a toothpick, apply a small dollop of glue onto the back of a spike. Press the spike onto the sneaker, holding it in place for a few seconds. Continue adding spikes along the shoe’s baseline and working upwards in horizontal lines. Arrange the spikes, without glue, into awkward spaces before attaching them. Glue spikes onto the heel cap, again working horizontally. Allow the shoes to dry overnight before wearing them!

Signature Spring Soiree

What better way to start the weekend than by hosting a spring soiree filled with tasteful appetizers, your night’s cocktail creation and of course friends?! With these easy to make bite size eats your friends will wish for a once a week soiree. So, choose your favorite drink and add a twist to make it your own. The Botkier team has created a menu featuring our signature ‘Botkier Kiwi on the Rocks’ What will you have as your signature piece?

Why not serve a Botkier Kiwi on the rocks! Start the night off  with a much deserved Happy hour cocktail. Cheers!


Ingredients:

2 cups kiwi, peeled and diced

1 cup pineapple, peeled and diced

12 mint leaves

2 tablespoons sugar

3 limes, juiced

2 cups vodka

2 cups tonic water or sparkling water (coconut flavor)

Ice cubes

Garnish: thinly sliced pineapple and kiwi

Directions:

1. Line six glasses up and fill each with 1/3 cup of diced kiwis, 1/6 pineapple, 2 mint leaves, 1 teaspoon sugar, and ½ lime juice.

2. Gently muddle together the contents of each glass until fully combined.

3. Fill each glass with ice cubes and top off with 1/3 cup vodka and 1/3 cup tonic water.

4. Stir, finish each glass with garnish and serve.

You can’t go wrong with these mac and cheese bites made by Cupcakes and Cashmere!

Don’t feel stuffed, feel satisfied!


Ingredients:

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

1 tablespoon butter

1 egg, beaten

1 cup milk

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs

2 teaspoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray. In a small bowl, stir together the breadcrumbs, olive oil and salt; set aside.

2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook for about 8 minutes, it should still be a little firm. Remove from heat, drain and return to the pan; stir in the butter and egg until pasta is evenly coated.

3. Reserve 1/2 cup of sharp cheddar cheese and stir the remaining cheddar cheese, 1 cup of milk and 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese into the pasta. Spoon into the prepared muffin tin. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese and the breadcrumb mixture over the tops.

4. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the topping is browned. Allow the muffins to cool for a few minutes before removing from the pan in order for them to take shape.
