Botkier Celebrates Street Style Spring Giveaway

Planet Botkier March 24, 2011

What better way to honor Bill Cunningham, the original street-style photographer and fellow New Yorker, than to offer one of our loyal fans the chance to get their “street-style” on?

Beginning Thursday March 24th, 2011 we’ll be offering one lucky Botkier fan the chance to win a Spring 2011 Botkier bag and to be featured in a street style shoot by Monica Botkier.

Also one lucky winner will win two tickets to see “Bill Cunningham New York” at the Film Forum here in New York City, to be announced Saturday, March 26th, 2011.

We love seeing Botkier street style and we’re constantly inspired by some of our favorite bloggers, as seen above (Aimee Song and Carolina Engeman).

Essentially, that’s how Botkier began – a girl, with her camera, and a bag.

Become a fan on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or visit our Nolita Boutique to enter – the winner will be chosen on Friday, April 1st, 2011.

About the film:

“We all get dressed for Bill,” says Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.

The “Bill” in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns “On the Street” and “Evening Hours.” Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

BOTKIER LOVES BALDESSARI

Planet Botkier November 03, 2010

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of John Baldessari’s Pure Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His latest retrospective at the Met includes drawings, paintings, photos, and books ranging from his earliest work to new pieces- five decades of thought-provoking work that makes this a must see. A favorite artist of mine, Baldessari pioneered the conceptual movement and inspired a generation of artists.

We’ve teamed up together to create a limited edition black cowhide tote, benefiting the Independent Curators International. Mr. Baldessari designed the ICI logo on the inside pocket and the metal key charm with the replica of his signature, in addition to the print on the face.

Available through ICI and our Nolita Boutique today!
