We saw more skin than ever during fashion week all over the globe in runways from Alexander McQueen to Robert Cavalli and Calvin Klein.
Taking it Back: Starting off as a fabric solely used for pantyhose, the sheer organza fabric was revolutionized to be used on wedding gowns and in everyday street wear. This fabric is a serious and sexy fashion trend. It was only to be seen on a woman’s arms and legs in the 1920’s but is now wrapped around ones entire body. This fabric type may have been dated before the 1920’s —3,000B.C.— but has slowly made it into all our closets.
Become a sheer genius:
1. Don’t want to reveal too much skin? Pair a sheer blouse with a light cardigan or jacket for less revelation.
2. For a peek-a-boo look try a skin toned or black camisole or bodysuit that will disappear under that blouse.
3. Feeling extra bold? Grab a pair of boy shorts under a floral printed sheer maxi skirt or try a contrasting lace bra under a silky top.

It’s always great for us to see how the cool girls wear our bags. Above here is Natalie Suarez of Natalie Off Duty followed by our girl Aimee Song of Song of Style and Wendy Lam of Nitrolicious out and about in NYC. Their styles are all so different and they each make EDEN their own, a designers dream come true!
These images are from our inspiration board for Holiday Resort 2011. Photographed by Andrew Yee for a colorblocking story in How to Spend It Magazine. Color blocking is a huge theme this year and continues as a strong trend into 2012. Love the red jacket above!
The photo above is a huge inspiration for me, I have it tacked up in my office. It’s from one of my favorite coffee table books – Hotel Il Pellicano, “Swimmers and Sailors”, Robert Scio (photographer), published by Rizzoli New York. I want to go back in time when I look at it!

This is a photograph I took myself while on holiday in Portugal. It was so beautiful there, the brightest blues in all imaginable hues. You can literally feel the sun on the kids backs… The family vacation, moments that pass too quickly.
Speaking of, this is a very personal moment for me on a family vacation at the age of 4 with my aunt in Miami. Talk about on trend, my bathing suit back then was right on! Good memories live in bright color. xoxo Monica
We’re so happy to announce that Monica’s Miami-inspired eyewear designs were selected as a part of The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Luxottica/Vogue Eyewear partnership that supports brands that have their sights set on optical eyewear.
(Such as ourselves.. ; )
For the second consecutive year, the CFDA partnered with the eyewear label on a program under which Monica and two other designers were chosen to conceptualize and create sunglasses to be sold exclusively at Sunglass Hut come September.
The inspiration behind Monica’s designs:
” MIAMI – Bathed in pastels and faded glory as well as new promises, there is something that resonates with me. South Beach feels like a continual party on the beach long after the party is over. Eyewear tells your story, yet keeps your secrets. Here the idea is bold and fun, never anonymous.”
We’re sure her time spent with her aunt in Miami had something to do with it too, check her out poolside… even then she was all about the bold, fresh, and modern style!
Botkier has always been a very “New York” brand but we’re so happy and excited that Miami has become our muse during this amazing opportunity and experience.
To get all the juicy details about the project check out WWD here: http://bitly.com/dHDl0k and look for the shades later this year in Sunglass Huts nationwide!
