Hair comes the Olympics

Planet Botkier June 29, 2012

We must admit that sometimes we get a little carried away when it comes to clothing, accessories and beauty trends. Isn’t there something just as important missing? Maybe your hair! Can’t forget that because a lady has to be well put together from head to toe. The wet, slick and sporty hair is trending this summer inspired by the Olympics so diving into the summer trends will keep you cool and enthused.

The Ponytail

This slicked back Samurai look is perfect for the summers sun. Take your hair back from your hairline and pull tightly. Make sure to add some moisturizer or moose to give it that touch of perfection and shine.

Want to add some fun to that mundane slick back? Try sectioning the hair into three or four individual ponytails then secure them toward the back of your neck. It’s edgy, fun and simple.

Updos

Updos can be so boring and plain but summer is here so it’s time to add some personality to your hair. Make your updos a bit more vibrant by adding some pearls or touches of crystal scattered in your hair.

Get twisted with the new swirl updo that’s to die for! For once you don’t have to strive for perfection because this look allows you to play around. Grab sections of your hair and twist back into mini halos and pin into place.

Color

Graffiti for the hair, do you dare? Clay painted hair is trending but do you really want to walk around in the heat with that kind of material in your hair? I think not, so the newest solution would be to use spray paint.  Use in sections of the hair or add it as an ombre so it’s not over baring. You will surely make a statement on the streets!

Aimee Song x Monica Botkier x Vintage Weekender

Planet Botkier May 31, 2012

Summer is a great time to go to antique fairs and shows. The Brimfield Antique Flea Market in Massachusetts is the ultimate inspiration mall for everyone. Aimee Song interior designer from Song of Style teamed up with Monica Botkier in search of stand out treasures that marked their style and personality. Equipped with the fashionable “hunting” sneakers, Botkier crossbody and enthusiasm the two set off on the antique hunting trail.

Flea markets may be overwhelming but with eyes on the bright middle eastern patterns, rustic housewares and a splash of water the ladies, once again, were ready to continue on the path.

Aimee strikes a pose with an antique doll house. The doll house is something old, Aimee Song is something new, and the Botkier LUCY shoulder is something blue.

Monica Botkier had her eyes on the prize with the help of interior designer Aimee Song! These two mirrors resemble a pair of vintage English chandelier earrings.

See some of our Treasure Hunt finds…

You can enjoy and indulge at June’s list of antique shows in the New York and Connecticut area like Monica Botkier and Aimee Song did. Let the boys have their day and ladies prepare for girl time on the antique adventure trail.

You will find anything from $2.00 scarves to tasteful home furnishings, so come prepared to expect the unexpected because you will find things you didn’t anticipate in finding.

Swimwear Sneak Peek

Planet Botkier March 30, 2012

It’s never too early to dive in… Getting ready for summer means more than just hitting the gym again after a long hiatus. Picking your swimsuit style is something that helps your summer and body take shape. Designers are inclined to think about past icons to create sultry new swimwear trends today. Here are some of our faves!

Laces and Straps: Thin lacy straps have evolved to thick edgy straps which can we worn out with a maxi skirt and lots of accessories!

High on Vintage: A high waist bottom with vintage print takes it back to a time when Marilyn Monroe defined sex appeal. Exaggerated gives a twist and fresh modern take.

Shuffle Ruffles: Ruffles have come a long way. Super feminine but now bold in neon colors.

Peek-a-boo Crochet: Started in the 30’s glamour era and adapted in the 1970’s hippie chic era the intricate detailing of peek-a-boo crochet is as detailed as it gets. Beautiful!

Animal Prints: Leopard is always chic. We never get sick of this print! Whether it’s on a bag or shoe or bathing suit. (Growl) with hand gesture, super sexy.

Times have changed along with trends so leave the past behind and dive into Summer 2012. Even if it seems a little early!

Fashion’s Night Out… a night in at Botkier NoLIta!

Planet Botkier September 09, 2011

Fashion’s Night Out turned out to be a fabulous night in for us down at our NoLIta boutique. We hosted a DIY party where Botkier Babes came down to decorate their very own eco friendly totes with Swarovski crystals, iron-ons, leather, studs and more! All proceeds from the sale of the totes went to benefit Oxfam.

Monica Botkier and Aimee Song from Song of Style

Goodies donated by Swarovski Elements…

Botkier Babe No. 1

Nadia of FrouFrouu with her cool and minimalist DIY design, love!

Great example of the iron-on details we had. This one is inspired by the Flint group for Fall.

Beautiful work ladies!

The scene at Botkier, Aimee and Nadia gettin’ their DIY on!

Lindsay from NY Busy Girl and her lovely creation.
